Is Your Dog Ready for Daycare? A 5-Minute Self-Assessment

The honest answer to whether your dog is ready for daycare is rarely about your dog being good enough. It's about whether your dog enjoys being around other dogs all day.

The Five Behaviors We Look At

Start with play style. When your dog meets another friendly dog on leash or at the park, do they get loose and wiggly, or stiff and still?

Loose body language is the green light. Stiffness, hard staring, or freezing means we'll want to introduce them slowly.

When the Answer is "Not Yet"

"Not yet" is not a no. It's a plan. Most dogs we turn away from group daycare on a first visit are back within three months.

Common Worries That Aren't Dealbreakers

Shy is fine. Older is fine too. We've had 11-year-olds doing half days twice a week purely for the company.

Ready to Get Started?

If the self-assessment leans yes, the next step is a free Meet & Greet at the location closest to you.

Frequently Asked Questions

What's the minimum age for daycare at Bark Social?

Four months. Puppies under a year don't need to be spayed or neutered, but anyone over twelve months does.

Do you require a behavior evaluation?

Every dog new to Bark Social needs a free Meet & Greet before their first full day.

My dog was rehomed recently. Should I wait?

Usually yes. We recommend three to four weeks of settled life at home before adding daycare.
